The university was established in 1871. However, it would be not very correct to date it like that. Firstly, it served as the West Chester Academy, which was founded in 1812. This academy had a very strong support and with the time, it was transferred into West Chester Normal School. In 1927, the school became West Chester State Teachers College and offered a program, which lasted for four years, this program was aimed on teachers educating. In 1960, it introduced the program of liberal arts.
Nowadays, the West Chester University of Pennsylvania offers the following programs: M.A., M.B.A., M.Ed., M.M., M.P.H., M.S., M.S.W., M.S.N., and M.S.A. degrees.
The great number of courses is presented to those who want to receive fast and high-leveled education at any field. Moreover, the number of off-campus programs is also rather extant; students have an opportunity to spend some time within the walls of some other universities and to gain some experience there.
