Lincoln University (LU) is a university located in southern Chester country, Pennsylvania. It is a historically black university of the United States of America. This university has also Center for Graduate Studies in Philadelphia.

Nowadays, LU is the university, which provides the students with liberal arts programs and science-based curriculums. LU is considered to be state-related university; it means that it receives public funds and offers reduced tuition fees for the citizens of Pennsylvania.

Lincoln University Urban Center (LUUC) is the campus, an extension one, in the University City, where the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University are also located. These campuses offer the graduate programs and the programs for those who want to continue the education.

In 2007, the renovation of the University City has begun. And they say that after the renovation will be finished, the campuses are going to receive the following title – Lincoln University Plaza.

In the conclusion of the article, I would like to cite Horace Mann Bond who wrote in his book, which goes under the title Education for Freedom: A History of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, the following lines: “This was the first institution founded anywhere in the world to provide a higher education in the arts and sciences for youth of African descent.”
